The 96th National Convention is coming up in just a few short days! I hope you’re all just as excited as I am! As always, it is going to be a party! National convention is such an incredible opportunity and experience, and I encourage all members who are going to make the most of it! If you are not going this year, I highly recommend you go in the future! With convention coming up, I want to dedicate my first blog post as a helpful reference for you! With that being said, I have listed all of my favorite things to do at National Convention. If you’re going to the rodeo or the concert, have a blast! If you’re doing community service, thank you for serving! You’ll make a great impact on the community. :) Also, if you see me at convention- stop me to say hi! I would love to chat with you! I hope you love this National Convention reference, and I hope it comes in handy for you!
Top 5 items to pack:
1. A cinch bag. This will come in handy when you are buying or picking up free items that you will not want to carry.
2. A portable charger. You’ll need your device to communicate with your chapter, advisor, friends, etc.
3. Extra pantyhose for the ladies! If you think you have packed enough, put a few more pairs in there!
4. Comfy shoes! There is a whole lot of walking that you will not want to do in heels or uncomfy dress shoes.
5. Snacks and a water bottle. They fit perfectly in your cinch bag. ;)
5 pieces of advice:
1. Order food online to skip the lines if you are on your own for meals.
2. Don’t forget your official dress!!!
3. Make new friends! Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone to interact with others!
4. Talk to members from other states! Ask about their CDE’s, LDE’s, state conventions, etc!
5. Take lots of pictures! You’ll want to remember all of these memories you are making.
BONUS: Be sure to download the National Convention App!
Top 5 places to go:
1. The Culver’s custard trailer! Free ice cream?! Um.. YES! Go several times... it never gets old!
2. The ShopFFA Mega Store! They always have so many cool things!
3. Workshops! Find a workshop that sounds interesting to you and go! Take notes, you can look back at them later!
4. The Expo Center. Learn about the industry, colleges, businesses, etc!
5. Jimmy Johns... I have never experienced a long line at Jimmy Johns... (I gave away my secret to you all... you’re
welcome!)
Top 5 things to take pictures with:
1. People from other states!
2. The turtle sculpture outside of the convention center, my favorite!
3. Your favorite part of convention.
4. Your favorite business, company, college, etc. at the expo center.
5. And don’t forget your chapter!
Email your pictures to indistrictv@gmail.com and we will post them on our social media! I hope you have the best time at National Convention this year!
