Beating the Winter Blues

I don’t know about y’all, but every year I tend to get so. sick. of. winter. Now don’t get me wrong, winter is the best during the holidays, but it’s really annoying outside of that. I’m sure lots of us struggle with some seasonal depression, so I thought what better way to beat the winter blues than share my strategies to feeling summery on the inside.

Go outside any chance you get. I know the weather isn’t the greatest in the winter (cold, dark, snowy, rainy…yuck), but if there’s ever a sliver of sunlight I make an effort to bundle up, go outside, and enjoy it. You get used to the cold after a while and I find the chilly air kind of refreshing. It also reminds me of summer, which makes me happy and excited, so maybe it will help you too!

Do some summer shopping. I love to prepare for the spring and summer seasons during the winter by shopping for some cute clothes. It always gives me something to look forward to and I get little glimpses of summer (even though I’m in my dark room, under a heated blanket, drinking hot tea). Even if you’re not in the market to buy new clothes you can surf the web and Pinterest to find some cute summer outfit inspo!

Get out! Whenever the winter comes I tend to gravitate towards staying in my room the whole season, but that’s a great way to invite the winter blues. One of the best ways to stay happy during the winter is to go out and do things! That could be grocery shopping, the movies, laser tag, whatever your heart desires! (Maybe even hit up a couple district events)

These are just a few of my strategies. It’s easy to get overtaken by the bleakness of winter, but there’s good things in it, too! I hope y’all have a great rest of the season! If you ever need anything (maybe some more strategies or just someone to talk to) please don’t hesitate to reach out!!
